International

Malmö Art Academy has a strong international profile, which is accentuated by proximity to Denmark and continental Europe. We have exchange agreements with some of the leading art academies in the world.

Exchanges and collaboration between students and teachers from other universities around the world are an important part of Malmö Art Academy. Guest lectures with internationally active artists, critics and curators, as well as various forms of collaborative projects are natural parts of the education which also benefits from the active art climate in the region with galleries, museums and other institutions.

Berlin and Amsterdam

The academy has a studio in Berlin and Amsterdam. Students can apply to use a studio for a period during a semester to work on a project that has a connection with one of the cities.

Study trips

Malmö Art Academy organises an annual study trip lasting about a week to an international, artistically interesting place or exhibition. It is led and supervised by two of the art academy’s teaching staff and is primarily offered to first-year students on the Master of Fine Arts programme (MFA1). Every five years, the Art Academy also arranges a bus trip to the still most important individual exhibition in Europe and also internationally, Documenta in Kassel.
