Inter Arts Center
Inter Arts Center (IAC) was established by the Faculty of Fine and Performing Arts at Lund University in 2011 and is located on the third and fourth floor of the old Mazetti chocolate factory in Malmö.
The aim of IAC is to create a strong interdisciplinary platform for artistic research and experimental art. With 1400 m2 of space, IAC offers good facilities for concerts, exhibitions, screenings, talks, performance, dance and theatre, but it also includes smaller and more isolated environments for conferences, master classes, lectures, workshops, research, and sound and video editing, as well as two artist studios.
IAC hosts a great variety of activities and intends to support and cultivate bold artistic ideas in various forms, not only through the spaces and facilities available, but also as an institution with its own initiatives. Therefore IAC is in constant flux, open and supportive to true experimentation and new approaches to contemporary art and artistic research.
Inter Arts Center is an open platform and laboratory, and we therefore encourage all professional artists, curators, researchers and institutions that work with experimental, research-based and interdisciplinary art to use and collaborate with IAC.
IAC holds a unique position, operating as an artistic laboratory and meeting place linking academic and artistic environments, as well as different art forms. IAC works closely with the three academies of music, theatre and art in Malmö, on both artistic research and experimentation, and in addition to this IAC has a wide and growing network of local, national and international partners.
Inter Arts Center has the potential to host and be many different things at the same time. We see this as a strength, and believe that new approaches, formats and networks can grow out of the interdisciplinary character of the centre and also the combination of being a meeting place, laboratory, studio and art institution with a public programme in one.
IAC is a laboratory for artistic research and experimental art, where artists and researchers collaborate, network, reflect and develop their projects. We offer facilities, equipment and technical support, and also aim to build a wide and active network of artists, researchers, musicians, producers, composers, directors, actors, writers and curators.
