Admission requirements, exemption and selection process

Admission requirements

To study at the Malmö Academy of Arts in master programme of Fine Arts in Artistic Research, you must have a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Bachelor of Fine Arts) or equivalent. Corresponding means e.g. that you have studied for three years on a five-year master's program in free art that does not give a bachelor's degree after three years. A certificate of the bachelor's degree in free art or equivalent must be attached to your application.

Admission

Each academic year, a maximum of 8 students are admitted to the master programme of Fine Arts in Artistic Research. All applications are reviewed in a confidential process by an admissions jury consisting of representatives of the program and of the school's doctoral programs and student representatives. After a first selection, a number of applicants are called to interview in the spring, usually in April. The selection is made through the evaluation of submitted digital portfolios with samples of artistic work, a research project with a research question, a personal statement and a letter of recommendation as well as telephone interviews. Justification for the jury's decision is not given and the decision cannot be appealed.
