Jasmine Christensson - Brittle Fragile
MFA Graduation exhibition – Jasmine Christensson
‘Brittle Fragile’ revolves around a black Citroën BX V16. Jasmine Christensson has been investigating the entangled narratives surrounding this car, and purposefully blending fact and fiction. The car was bought in 1990 by a woman named Britta, who eccentrically decorated it. More than two decades later, the artist’s brother bought the car which he owned until his passing away in 2015. Intertwining these narratives, Christensson constructs a closeness between herself, her brother and a complete stranger. The car becomes an extension and physical manifestation of these social relations, while it also becomes an object that deals with loss.
Jasmine Christensson (b.1993, Gothenburg), holds a BFA from Trondheim Art Academy (2018), and will graduate this spring from the Master programme at Malmö Art Academy.
