Amsterdam has many interesting art institutions. Among them are Rijksmuseum, van Gogh museum and Stedelijk. There is the world famous art center De Apple and numerous galleries as well as two world renowned schools: RIjksakademiet and De Ateliers.

Half an hour away by train is among other Rotterdam with Witte de With and Boymans van Beuningen (two world famous museums for contemporary respective classical art). Den Haag (also half an hour by train) has Gemeentesmuseum with the world’s largest collection of Piet Mondrian and close to Arnhem (40 minutes by train) is the fantastic Kröller-Müller museum in a gigantic park, with the largest Van Gogh collection outside of Amsterdam and much more.  It’s the model of Louisiana and even more fantastic. An hour by train from Amsterdam is Antwerp and two hours away Brussels. From there you reach London in a couple of hours. There is also Thalys’ trains to Paris, 4 hours. Furthermore the Netherlands and Amsterdam is an important centre for design (e.g. De Stijl).
