Applications are made in two steps, opening on January 19 and closing on March 1, 2024:

1. Register on the programme at universityadmissions.se

• Double check that all your grades have been uploaded, including those from preparatory schools. Some grades are uploaded automatically while others are not.
• Check that you have submitted the correct paperwork - see general instructions.
• Remember that if you are not a Swedish citizen, you must upload your passport copy to prove that you are exempt from fees - see general instructions on University admissions. Please note that Nordic citizens must also prove that they are free of charge.

2. Upload your work samples in our portal 

Register in the portal and upload your work samples together with a presentation of your artistry and a justification of why you are applying to Malmö Art Academy.

We cannot process your application if both steps are not completed. Last day to upload worksamples was 1st March 23.59 The last day to send in supplement documents to universityadmissions.se is March 7, 2024.

Upload your work samples in our application portal

After registering in our portal, you will receive an email with your login details and application number (M+sequence number). Note that this application number is different from the registration number you received from antagning.se. The email contains a link to a digital application form where you fill in your complete personal data and upload documentation of 5-8 work samples.

Presentation and motivational letter

Together with your work samples, the application should contain a text with a brief presentation of your artistic work and a motivation for why you are applying to Malmö Art Academy. Other relevant documents such as texts related to your own artistic work etc. can also be uploaded in the application form. Formal grades, certificates, documentation and the like that have already been uploaded to universityadmissions.se should not be uploaded again, we already have access to these via the admissions office.

Guidelines for work samples

Malmö Art Academy offers education in fine art. You are free to choose which techniques you want to use in your work samples to show your artistic expression.

General instructions for work samples

• An application should contain 5-8 work samples in any technique.
• The work samples together with a completed application form are uploaded digitally to the application portal after registration.
• Good documentation of each work and a short description is necessary.
• For each work it is important to state the title, material, size and year

Technical instructions for digital work samples

• Each individual work sample can be documented with a maximum of 5 images/videos/audio files.
• Accepted file formats are:
• Images: JPG/JPEG
• Audio: MP3/WAV/AIFF
• Video: MP4/MPEG4
• It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that submitted digital samples work according to the instructions.
• Indicate title, material, size, year and length (number of minutes) if video/audio.
• Documentation of installations should be as comprehensive as possible.

Video

• Video should be uploaded as MP4 (MPEG4).
• Maximum size 1 GB per movie, max 1080p
• If you apply with video works, the jury wants to see the entire work and not just excerpts.
• Please attach a short synopsis for longer video works.

Digital images

• Digital images should be uploaded as JPG.
• Should not exceed 3 MB in size.
• Audio
• Upload in the following formats: MP3, WAV or AIFF.
