Karoline Sætre - To draw a map is to get lost
Gallery KHM1, Friisgatan 15, Malmö
Opening the 8th of February, 17 – 20
The exhibition presents an installation in two parts: one is relating to specific locations in Malmö, and the other presents equivalent places in Trysil (Norway). Each of the locations are represented by a platform relating to the actual physical site.
Karoline uses language and found objects to build works where a space is translated from its geographical ground into the gallery. She is interested in spatiality and how we navigate our surroundings. One of the investigative motivations have been the map, and the way we construct our own subjective landscapes through using or avoiding it.
Karoline Sætre (b. 1992, Trysil) holds a BA from Trondheim Art Academy (2016) and is currently doing her MA at the Malmö Art Academy. She is focusing on relation to thought and physical places, through themes such as mapping, archiving and collecting.
