as companions – Anania Røde
How do you name a being you haven't yet met, one you haven't learnt to know?
In the exhibition as companions, Anania Røde questions how to love a being you do not understand. A creature that frightens you or forces you to feel something you do not wish to see. In these sculptures, Røde searches for how to love what scares us, and how to give care to the monstrous in ourselves and in the other.
Anania Røde (b.1997) was born in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, grew up in a small village on the coast of Helgeland, Northern Norway, and received a BA from the Oslo National Academy of the Arts.
