A Silhouette of Beginnings – Sturla Magnússon
The exhibition A Silhouette of Beginnings explores questions of time. Its aim is not to answer them but finding the way from one question to the next. A conclusion is out of reach, or ignored. Saved for a later time.
The exhibition is a large scale installation. A labyrinth to be opened and explored. Whispering walls circulate comprehension. Two trees sing a love song to each other, vulnerable to interruption. Opening a door leads you to another door, until you step out on the other side.
Viewers are asked to enter individually and a limited amount of visitors are allowed in the gallery at the same time. A set of rules are laid out before a viewer enters the labyrinth.
Sturla Magnússon is an Icelandic artist working with sculpture, sound and installation. Approaching his work like a text that can be entered, misinterpreted and left unfinished. The meaning of a story or structure evading completion. Time not functioning as a progression but as a loop or a delay, opening itself up to being reread and echoed.
If you would like a guided tour you can contact the artist through sturlamag [at] gmail [dot] com (sturlamag[at]gmail[dot]com) or call +3547613246.
