Health and insurance

Take care of yourself during your studies

As a student, it is not only important to be mindful of your studies, but also to take care of yourself and what you need to conduct your studies in a healthy way. During your time at the school, you are insured and have free access to the resources offered by the University.

We have gathered all the information you need to take care of yourself here.

Educational support

If you have any kind of disability, e.g. visual impairment or dyslexia, that makes your studies more difficult, we can offer various educational support to facilitate your studies. To be eligible for pedagogical support, you must have a so-called “permanent disability”, i.e. something that has lasted or is expected to last for more than six months.

You can submit your application via the Nais portal (linked below). After submitting your application you will be contacted for a telephone follow-up or a personal meeting. After speaking with a coordinator, you will receive a decision outlining your support which you can discuss with your course leader.

Student insurance

As a student of Malmö Art Academy, you are insured for accidents during school activities via a personal injury insurance, that Lund University has taken out with Kammarkollegiet.

This insurance only applies to situations that's part of the school's activities. We advise our students to supplement this with personal accident insurance, which is also valid during leisure time and when working on private projects.

Personal belongings are not insured by the school, nor is equipment you borrow from the school. As a borrower, you are personally responsible for the equipment you borrow and are therefore liable to pay compensation if the equipment is damaged or lost.

You are also personally responsible for the studio you use during your studies and may therefore be liable for compensation in the event of damage. We therefore recommend that you take out home insurance, supplemented by accident/all risks/emergency insurance. Check carefully what your insurance covers.

Insurance during exhibitions

Students are responsible for the technical equipment they have borrowed and will be liable to pay compensation if they have caused damage or theft of the equipment through negligence or carelessness. It is therefore important that you, as a student, ensure that you have good insurance cover, for example via your home insurance, which can cover such costs.

In the event that something external creates a damage/loss in the form of vandalism or burglary, Lund University can step in and cover the cost of replacing the equipment, provided that the equipment is placed and handled as considered reasonable, both in use and in storage. This may be assessed in each individual case.

Please note that Lund University is not able to insure students' works of art as these are owned by the students. If you as a student consider your artwork to have a monetary value, you should review your private insurance and ensure that it covers the cost should something happen to your artwork(s).

Study-related problems

If you have encountered any study-related problems, you can turn to your student union, which has good contacts at both departmental and faculty level, as well as support from the student representative in Lund.
