Malmö Art Academy Graduation Exhibition Bachelor of Fine Arts 2023
We are proud to present the Bachelor Graduation Exhibition of our emerging artists. The exhibition features works by eleven students, each offering their unique perspectives and creative expressions in conversation with each other.
As an important milestone, this exhibition marks their journey towards continued artistic growth and development. It will showcase a diverse range of media including installation, sculpture, drawing and sound. In addition ‘Billy is a Boy’ and Maria Nadia Nour, will perform during the opening on 10 March from 18.00 pm and from 19.00 pm respectively.
Pernille Kjær's installation consists of three physically connected components that slowly change during the exhibition period, creating a circuit in constant flux that infests the gallery architecture. Billie Meiniche presents a labyrinth of corrugated steel, a dilapidated dollhouse, and a photo of a child with a cardboard camel that explores a queer nostalgia for a time that never was. Cecilie Mark´s piece, "An inquiry (immanence)," features three sculptures with magnifying glasses that become the focal point for investigating different elements of life represented in petri dishes. Felix Christiansson arranges sculptures to re-enact an internal scene within a stage under a rotating chandelier, while Sigrid Soomus' work explores the play between a body, form, and ornamentation, creating a floating effect in the viewer's space. Marcus Wallström presents new drawings that make embodied knowledge visible, where drawing is a language that engages the body, senses, and intellect in interaction with the material and environment. Hannes Östlund's work is a looped scan of an analogue film, shown as a projection, featuring two women taking a break from shovelling hay. Maria Nadia Nour's four-channel sound and video installation investigates the body and language. Astta Nielsen's art combines installation, sculpture, and poetics to create an exploration of gaps, spaces, memories, and surroundings. Jonathan Bue´s work is influenced by Marcel Duchamp's early work, explores the relationship between masculinity and the readymade, with a focus on how gender roles and objects influence each other. Finally, Vigga Wæhrens' eco-horror fairytale film plays every whole and half hour and is narrated by an old oak who explores a Vlogger's unexpected journey.
